    DVD:- Region Free?

I just bought a new DVD-ROM drive and Im wondering if I need to unlock it to make it region free?

its an Artec, model # DHM-G48

Any sites where I can get software/firmware to do this?

    Thanks in advance,

    Auron.

    From www.firmware-flash.com

You can find region free (RPC-1) firmware on this page: http://etna.rpc1.org/mt/index.html (Patch by Etna).
If you are using a non-patched firmware, then you can reset the drive's hardware counter back to 5 changes at any time by holding the "Play" button for three seconds. The LED will flash rapidly for a while, this is how you'll know that it worked.

Is there anyway to reset the firmware on dvd rom drives back the original firmware it came with? Whenever i try to patch my Samsung SM-308B back to its original firmware I get an error saying something like "older firmware version". I just need to set it back because I get more problems with the new firmware, than with the original.

DVD-Genie is a method of changing region within powerDVD or similar software, and requires a region free drive.

DVD Region-Free is a software solution that works by ripping the .VOB files from the DVD.

I'd use Driveinfo to check which firmware version the drive already has and then update to the RPC-1 hacked version.

Region killer is better than DVD genie as it works automatically.
