Second Hand Laptops

This is just vague interest atm - ie no offers in this thread please.

I'm thinking about a second hand laptop for maybe school work and other work that would be PC related but basically asides from technical know how - laptops are new territory for me.

Obviously they are going to be dearer than a desk top PC and their specs wont be fantastic but I was wonder how much decent second hand work laptops go for?

Talking say 800mhz - 1ghz cpu, 128 mb or more ram, 10gb hard drive, simple gfx, on board nic, usb etc.

Also brands. Laptops are computers which you cant really build urself so who do stable, solid laptops and relieable lappys?

Rough prices and places to look would be great.

I had a m8 who was looking at a refurbished IBM Thinkpad that was about them specs - think they were asking for less than £500; which is just fantastic!

S/H laptops are starting to become worthless.
You can pick up brand new laptops with semi decent spec from £500 +vat.

You'll find that at the lower end of the market you'll be paying a lot of money for not a lot of kit. Check out the price of replacement batteries for laptops - you can easily lose £100 on a battery alone.
