Hello all, I am after a new laptop, something around 700 quid, doesn't need to a great graphics card but prefer it to be wireless...
Anyone know the best/cheapest place for a decent laptop please?

you don't need graphics just a good solid laptop, you will not get more bang for your buck
It is Inevitable.....
If you can, try to get a Centrino/Pentium M laptop. They last so much longer than any other laptop, very efficient processor which is great - less heat and less noise!
Have a look at these:

Avoid Acer, if you need reasons why, check out whatlaptop's forums for Acer complaints.
They may be cheap, but pray they dont break down , otherwise you might have to wait a long time for a repair.
I can vouch for Fujitsu build quality, excellent. Not had to use CS yet.
Pentium M's will last a bit longer than a Celeron M, depends how much of a priority battery life is.
Actually I have experienced acer customer support. My laptop (Travelmate 8006Lmi) came with a dead pixel in the centre and they agreed to replace the screen free of charge. From my experience its not too bad. It did take 2 weeks for it to come back to me but 2 weeks isnt that long really. I must admit though that calling them does take patients as this was way too long of a wait.Originally Posted by javalord
My friend in Germany has a Fjitsu Siemens laptop, its really nice with excellent build quality. Anybody have experience with evesham laptops?
Never had a problem with my Acer whatsoever.Originally Posted by javalord
Thanks for all your help guys, very interesting read.
I've come across 1 engineering firm sending a whole batch of Acer's back 1 1/2months after purchase as they all had stability issues... all of them!Originally Posted by KeZZeR
Seen with my own eyes. Even when Acer sent engineers out, problems still arised. Modern P4 laptops + Pentium M's in the mix.
Not only that, but I've read that some users dont even get their laptops back for upto 2-3 months !
Have a look in whatlaptop forums and you'll see what I mean.
Also build quality on Acer's i've encountered lately dont feel as solid as they could be. Goto a retail store and have a check yourself against other laptops.
I know they're competitively priced and spec is good, I just wouldnt trust them with my ££££ or data.
