trying to get temp on my hd

Tried using Dtemp and other monitoring programs but cannot get them to monitor my main 200gb drive. the latest prog, HDD thermometer says that my 200gb drive does not monitor temperature but my 160gb drive does. They are both western digital caviar special editions so why would 1 monitor temp and the other not?
I do know everything, just not all at once. It's a virtual memory problem.

    does it matter?

Why would you want to monitor HDD temps anyway?

Need to monitor it as my pc has been playing up. - occasionally freezes and then reboots and says hard disk not found( see this thread http://forums.hexus.net/showthread.php?t=40508)

It's been suggested my hard drive is on it's way out. According to the smart test and the extended test using dataguard utility from western digitals website, they say my drive is fine. Leads me to think it may be the temp that is then causing the prob - which is why I want to be able to monitor it.

    well whats your system temp?

My HDDs are roughly 5-6c above ambient case temp with a single 80mm fan cooling 2 Raptors and a 250GB disc...

Replace the cable etc as thats prob a more likely cause

Apologies if this has been suggested

Motherboard monitor has an option to read from the 'smart' info and take temps

you need to open it, tick This Box click apply, and restart mbm5,

Seagates run a little hot but not that hot. You need better airflow in your Shuttle I think. What chip are you using exactly? A 3.4 Prescot? If so you're just asking for trouble.
