hehe i know mate but i want one which wont cause any probs etc.

    As austin said..

"Quality is good as is capabilities BUT it seriously hogs the CPU and totally kills the PCI bus which is known to be weaker on VIA mobos like yours (although you have 8235 which is much improved)"

Well fondie im going to read up some reviews about the "Terratec Aureon 5.1 Fun" and a few others and will post back here with what i end up getting.

If you're planning on getting a 'good' one in the near future it would perhaps make more sense to buy practically anything, even a cheap SB PCI128 or something ... so long a sit runs your fav game. Otherwise I'd say any of the cards already mentioned...

Terratec Aureon 5.1 (£30 from kustom, £27 from dabs)

    M-Audio Revolution 7.1

    Hercules Fortissimo II/III

    Philips Edge (Acoustic top notch)

    Sonic Fury (TBSC)

    Terratec Aureon Space 7.1

I'd just avoid Creative's offerings as there are simply cheaper and/or better offerings else where. Take a look in the For Sale section ...

Ebuyer has a good price on the MAudio 7.1. This is a high quality sounding card, with a good company behind it. I love it.

He only wants to spend £35 not £75. Although that is a good price.

And I've had my soundcard in my system and a few VIA systems in the past with no problems. It doesn't seem to hog any CPU cycles at all
