Flashing line in the corner of screen

My bro jsut got back from uni(by car) and when he turns his pc on, jsut a line in the top left starts flashing. And windows wont start. He can get into bios but not safe mode.

Any ideas lads

checked and their in fine. any other ideas? f8 dont work for safe mode either

is it showing as detecting the HDD in the bios boot up screen?

Ok, Update, it now goes into windows but takes 5 mins to load it, Flashin light flashes for about 5 mins. Why would it do that?

run a scan disc on the drive and depending on manufacturer, get the drive checking tools they offer to see if its still alright after its journey...
