    Quick questoin re: CPU Heatsink

I'm taking apart a system... Does the bracket and screws go with the heatsink, or does some of it belong with the motherboard?

    Socket 1155 system

    Thanks

All the ones I've done nothing comes from the motherboard it's all with the heat sink, you just fit the heat sink to the mother via the four metal holes in the motherboard surrounding the CPU & CPU socket. If you mean the long bar and frame that holds the CPU down then yeah that is a part of the motherboard.

It depends on the the heatsink thats on there, if its an aftermarket job then some come with their own brackets/mountings etc. Is it a standard Intel heatsink or is it aftermarket?

The motherboard side of the intel heatsink mounting spec is just the 4 holes in the motherboard, everything else goes with the cooler

Yeah as above, moved some 1155 stuff around the other day, the stock intel coolers just use the 4 holes around the socket with them funky push/twist pins.
