    Any programs or sites telling you what your CPU was downgraded from use unofficial information at best, most likely guessing and little else so IMHO take with a large pinch of salt. As for the markings...

    AXDA2000DKT3C

    AXDA=Can't rem but not important (AMD Desktop CPU type thing)
    2000=XP2000+
    DKT3C:
    D=OPGA packaging
    K=1.65v vcore
    T=90'C max die temp
    3=256K L2 cache
    C=133/266FSB

    AIUGA=Stepping code, the last letter is most important denoting in this case a TbredA.

    9189016260141
    0240RPJW

    IIRC the 0240 refers to the year 2002, week 40 (when it was manufactured). Not sure about the other codes, I don't think there's any official word on it.

    AX=Palomino
    AXDA=Tbred, Barton
    So it is teh crucial thing is rcognising the CPU for those who can´t tell the difference between Palomino and TBred, just by looking at the core.

    Organic Pin Grid Array, the std packaging used in all AthlonXP (IIRC). The Athlon64-FX uses a ceramic package (lidded ceramic micro PGA) while the Athlon64-3200+ uses an organic package (lidded organic micro PGA).

    Hey I'm learning like everyone else. I certainly have my weak points ... perhaps I just hide them well LOL!

    Just to put my boot in the Abit NF7S v2 is very well priced at the moment, i remember paying over £125 for the same board when it came out, now its a steal at £79 ish and is easily overclocable. Just combine that with a barton core 2500 which you can grab off the forums for a mere £50 and you have a winning combo

    I rem paying £80 for my NF7-S v2.0 back when they first came out (Feb IIRC) ... special deal at Komplett. ALmost all nF2 mobos were £100+ back then, now Dabs do one for £40 albeit without Dual Channel (only 5% slower though).

    lol 'thats teh way the cookie crumbles'

    you have to remember the abit nf7-s probably wont really be exceeded, as all manufacturers are moving onto designing nf3 for the athlon 64

    I think the word your looking for is superseded.

    And it depends on how you determine how products supersede each other. In my books nf2 superseded nf1 as nf3 will nf2.

    Hardware just gets better and so thats the way the cookie crumbles ! god i love that.

    The latest nForce2 mobos (like NF7-S v2.0) are as good as it's ever likely to get for SktA and do offer everything you need, by the time they become limiting you'd have to move over to a new archy anyway even if you went with the current Athlon64/Opteron or Skt478 P4 mobos.
