Well I tried the RAM, swapped it for different RAM.......

    .....same problem.

The windows error thing is saying its be caused by the SIS Graphics GPU anyways...

The only thing I don't get is that to get these errors I have to run something graphically intensive, where-as the first time when it came up with a screen that well confuddled me, I wasnt doing anything much at all.

You'd probably have to be very unlucky for the gfx to cause the PC to fall over in non-3D stuff, if you run it long enough in 2D you'll probably find it unstable from time to time, 3D just shows up instability much quicker that's all.

Looks like a new Graphics card is in order then (or a new shuttle ). Thankfully PCI graphics cards aren't too pricey and you'll find an improvement over the SIS onboard graphics. Go for a passive FX5200 or Radeon 9200 as you have the added bonus of silence!

Probably about £50-60. Ebuyer have a couple, there's a Sapphire Radeon 9000 PCI 128 MB with DVI TV-Out for £60. Have a look around though and check out a few reviews, the price you pay depends on the performance you want. Oh and as they aren't very high clock speed cards they aren't too hot so you shouldn't notice an enormous increase in temps

GF2MX is still a very big step up from your onboard SiS, GF4MX improve a little on speed but acres in the image quality and other areas too ... much like the Radeons. Rad7500 is on par with GF4MX, Rad9000, Rad9100 and Rad9200 are roughly the same speed too but are the only ones listed to add full DX8.1 support. GF-FX5200 is likely to be the fastest, it offers DX9 but only really useful for DX8 as the cards are no where near fast enough for DX9 if they're even fast enough for DX8. Gfx RAM is very important for PCI gfx cards, 64MB is a bare minimum. So IMHO Rad9000-9200 or GF-FX5200 are best, Rad7500 and GF4MX are pretty close behind mostly lacking in the DX8 hw the others provide. See how prices go.

my Albatron threw up very similar visual errors when it was breaking....... looks like you've already deduced it's your graphics though..

Good little card for what you need, and cheap.....

Rad7000 is near enough GF2MX speed, still a big step up from yor SiS. 64MB would be nicer but if your onboard ran all you wanted this card won;t prove limiting at all.

Have actually ordered one of those now

I tried my mates Radeon All-In-Wonder out and dissabled the onboard GFX and now all is well completely stable table. Ran 3D Mark, Virus scan and seti all at once and didn't show any signs of wanting to crash

Good to hear, I reckon you'll notice a pretty good performance increase from it too!
