    Check the mobo for leaky caps.. if they leak, the electrolyte could burn... - might be the cause of them leaking too... if they are...

    It might even be the caps in the psu.. sounds like a psu problem anyway.. I would just get a new decent psu....

    Not only that but the pc hasnt been 'burning' since

    Its all very strange if u ask me...

    If a capacitor on your motherboard has failed you might not even notice. I know that you don't overclock, right? In which case you might not be stressing the system enough to create instability as a result of the failure. Still worth checking the caps on the mobo for residue though.

    If it was in the PSU, then maybe you would have noticed, but I guess it depends on just what it was that burnt!
