Is it safe to buy a CPU without its box?

i saw a deal in which offers an R3 2300x, its cheaper than a 2200g, but with a tradeoff, i only get to buy the proc and hsf cooler, without it being in the ryzen box. Is it safe? Are there risks? If so, how much are there?

Lemme explain here.. the hsf was held in a black box, and the tray was held by plastic. Both of which are held separately, but theyre tied together using rubber band

It's normally safe. I don't think you'll get a warranty with it though?

lots of CPU's are sold OEM and not with a cooler.

If' it's from a reputable retailer, all is well. Just buy a good coler

If it's amazon open box be careful. Some folks I've read about have had awful chips from the open box warehouse returns etc.

The Ryzen 3 2300X lacks an IGP,so you need a dGPU. Also if you can find the Ryzen 5 1600AF it is a Ryzen 5 2600 which is slightly underclocked.

It's fine, but the warranty will be much shorter.

For example the i9-9900k has 3 years warranty from box, but only 1 year OEM.

If it's a return I'd be wary. The person who returned may have had a really bad chip that doesn't OC well at all.

One of my friends bought i5 3570K second hand nearly 2 years ago. That machine ran without a single hitch all that time. He never regretted buying it.
