Gigabit ethernet controllers that ARE NOT connected via the PCI bus?

I remember hearing about the Nforce2 series changing the MCP-T for one that has a gigabit controller in it , not sure if true.

Not sure that's true is it? The only NForce2 southbridge with onboard gigabit was the MCP-S; any board with the MCP-T like the Asus A8N8X-E linked above must by definition have PCI gigabit. Tragically the MCP-S doesn't have soundstorm, so you can't get non-PCI gigabit and Soundstorm on the same board:(.

Hang on, I'll see if I can find a board with the MCP-S and a proper gigabit implementation.

Isn't the NF7-G (or something like that) have the MCP-S?

According to that page the nf7-s2g uses the MCP-S southbridge but as Rave says theres now sounstorm just 6 channel onboard sound.

I dont need the soundstorm, just the inbuilt gigabit controller + SATA ports, got audigy for that. Realised I throw a lot across the network lately so thought id look into it.

The ABIT NF7-S2G although it has Gigabit still uses the PCI bus apparently as they skimped on the chipset.
