    Exclamation PSU Causing Power Outage

Hello, I recently built a pc and when I tried to power it up for the first time it causes my house to have a power outage and it blows the fuse on power cables plugged into the PSU. I'm relatively new to building PCs but here are my components.

    CPU Intel i5 10600k
    GPU MSI Radeon 5600 Xt
    Motherboard Gigabyte Z490UD
    PSU Corsair RM650W
    Case NZXT H510
    RAM Corsair Vengeance (2x8gb) 3600hz
    Heat Sink CoolMaster 212 EVO

Any help or suggestion would be appreciate

im thinking about getting a new PSU in hopes of it being a faulty PSU any suggestions on any reliable and quality PSU.

Does the fuse on the PSU kettle plug itself blow? Or the fuse on the socket?

If it's the fuse on the PSU plug then yeah I'd recommend RMAing it, clearly shouldn't be doing that. That PSU should be able to handle your rig, and even if it can't it shouldn't be blowing its own fuse. Have you tried plugging it into to an entirely separate socket?

Does the actual fuse on your PSU kettle plug blow? That would seem to imply a faulty PSU, I'd RMA it. Have you tried it in a different socket in your house? Corsairs PSUs are generally good, I have 2 CX750Ms which have both lasted more than 4 years so far, and most of their PSUs come with a long warranty so you can probably still return it if it's not working properly.

Do other items blow your houses fuses when plugged into the socket PSU was plugged into?

    Re: PSU Causing Power Outage

The only time my pc repeatedly tripped the box was due to a faulty surge protector. Can't tell if you're plugging directly in the wall or not.

But yeah if the PSU lead's fuse goes it'll be the PSU or cable I guess.
Grab that. Get that. Check it out. Bring that here. Grab anything useful. Take anything good.

It does sound like the PSU is faulty. You could always buy a PSU tester to make sure. They are only about £10 and are a handy bit of kit to have in the long term.
