Currently have an Enermax 350w; that I've had for years.. but the voltages are drifting out and well I just feel like a new PSU for my new Cavalier 3 (black..). :)
What do you recommend?
I'm willing to spend up to possibly £60 (although I'd prefer less..).
400w+
I was looking at the Coolermaster Realpower; but its a hefty £69ish and the "power indicator" is silver :/.

I would suggest the Tagan 480w psu. I've owed two of them both been really excellent PSUs, not a moments problem with them.

I recently asked a similar question on this board after a decent PSU for up to about £50 with the stress being on budget. However they soon bent my arm till i got a 480w Tagan psu and ive never looked back. The voltages are always high, its very quiet, looks nice and was packaged very well with everything you need.
I think they can be had for about £65 at the moment but should last you years.

If you are on a tight budget and dont want to power too much the 420w version will probably be fine too, just remember that it might not last you so long with the way new components use more and more power than previous ones.

Antec Neopower 480W a bit out of your price range I think.
Also if you are going for SLI best to get a single rail psu like the Tagan, otherwise a dual rail like the Antec Neopower is best
For your budget, don't discount the Thermaltake PSU's, cracking little power supplies for the money.

As Firelord said this has already been discussed in depth but having said that:
FSP (AKA Fortron / Sparkle Power) make good PSUs (sold on komplett and also badged as Nexus PSUs elsewhere)
Tagan's are meant to be very good and I'm very happy with mine
I used to shout about CWT / Meridian PSUs being the same as Antec PSUs but having had a fair few die on me I'm no longer personally recommending them...
(Full story) Having said that none of the 5 that died took anything else in the PCs with them (used them at home and at work) which is more than you can say for a cheap PSU (such as a qtec)... I've also had the suggestion that the PSUs may have been 'tripped' internally and not permanently damaged but the ones I left at work were thrown away before I could retest them. The one that died at home did have a blown capacitor inside but then the electricity on my estate has frequent dips / spikes too - something I've noticed a lot more now that I have a UPS...
Enermax are still one of the best PSU makers IMO. They rank highly for efficiency which I like for two resons. Firstly the lower running cost and secondly the % that is not efficient just goes to created uneccessary heat. It's the lower efficiency rating that I don't like about Tagen even though they are good in other respects. The Fortron/FST I believe are very efficient and although I've never used them I would certainly consider them as a cheaper alternative.

The Fortron/Source 400w rev2.. the 120mm is attracting me.
For my current system 400w is plenty; but sometime in the future I plan to upgrade to A64, X850.. will 400w still cover it? (only one DVDRW, one or two HDDs).
edit: I've just noticed its cheaper at Microdirect, I didn't notice as they have it down as "FSP".. I can call in MD so no delivery charges :)
Are you planning to overclock with that A64? The Tagan can supply 28A on the 12v rail to the processor which is about double the Fortrans capability if i remember correctly.

i like my akasa paxpower 460w... the single 12cm fan on the bottom is a blue LED type as well. near as dammit silent too and from what i can see the volts look nice and stable. I've put these in a few custom machines for clients as well, never seen one fail yet.
Thumbs up for the true power again. My 330w is almost silent and is superb.
Well, unless im mistaken, it doesnt support BTX (unlike my trusty Tagan) so not quite futureproof. Though this really isnt an important feature yet.Quote:
