    Ryzen DRAM Calculator updated

If you're having trouble getting your RAM to run at it's rated speed or if you want to squeeze more speed or better latency the well known DRAM Calculator has had some major reworking with 1.7.1, the first new version for some months and it's had a couple of quick fixes since then and is now at version 1.7.3. Download is here: https://www.techpowerup.com/download...am-calculator/

The most noticeable part is the missing R-XMP button. Now you find out what die your RAM is from the Thaiphoon burner http://www.softnology.biz/files.html and then enter info about your RAM, motherboard, CPU and desired frequency in the top left of the calculator main page. I don't know which PCB my RAM kit has so I used A0/B0 there. Then click 'Calculate safe'. There are youtubes on how to do it but the procedure has changed now as you don't need to import timings or use the r-xmp any more.

The main thing for me is improved Micron E-die settings. My Crucial ballistix RAM has that die and I've previously not been able to get my RAM to boot reliably at it's rated 3200 and XMP/DOCP doesn't work. Using the new version calculator it's stable at 3600. These are the settings I worked from, enabling 3600 CL16 from a fairly cheap kit rated at 3200 CL16 that I could only reliably run at 3000 and auto settings previously:

Yes it is some work but hopefully it's worth it.

    Re: Ryzen DRAM Calculator updated

You're missing a step about how you import values from Thaiphoon. It's not quite enough to just plug in your speed and RAM type. What you should do is:

    1) Run Thaiphoon Burner as Admin
    2) Click the Report icon
    3) Scroll down and click the text 'show delays in nanosecond', which will change the values from cycles to ns in the report.
    4) Click the Export icon and save the complete report as HTML

    In DRAM calculator:
    5) Set the memory type etc. as per Thaiphoon.
    6) Click the 'import XMP' and select the HTML file you just exported
    7) Click Calculate SAFE

Maybe not on systems it can read the RAM on, but on some it can't.

    Re: Ryzen DRAM Calculator updated

OK so if the Calculate safe mode button doesn't work at first you may need to do those extra steps. It does work for me. So if you found the steps needed to use the tool offputting you may find it easier to use now. I did.

Also, if you do have to import the timings from Thaiphoon I think you will need to select 'Manual' for the DRAM PCB revision section in the calculator.

    Re: Ryzen DRAM Calculator updated

My B450M Steel Legend wont let me run the XMP setting in the BIOS without getting unstable under stress.
Is there anything to be gained by tweaking the RAM?

Yeah I get that, but what actual difference will I see..

It should improve FPS in games. If that will matter to you or be enough to notice is something you should research yourself. Have a watch of this: https://youtu.be/iH3qq_mSxTM

    Re: Ryzen DRAM Calculator updated

Nice link thanks, in short, my next GPU should be a 2080Ti, the increases in performance just aren't seen on the AMD stuff to the same level as they are on the NVidia GPU's, now however is the wrong time to buy as we're waiting for both AMD and NVidia to drop their next niceties, and current pricing seems to be increasing, which is kinda the wrong way round given new stuffs not far away (apparently)..

    Re: Ryzen DRAM Calculator updated

So, had a bit of a faff anyways..
I've so far, either ran my RAM set to AUTO in the BIOS, or tried the XMP profile.
XMP has always crashed under load (Seems to be ok in Windows, but when I start to play WZ it'll crash the game out randomly), so I've just stuck to AUTO, because its easier (lazy)..

So I've just ran the MEMBench on the Ryzen thing above, 3 times.

Once with the RAM set to AUTO, which as you can see from the first screenshot it decides is 2400Mhz.
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/mxqiq9bpp8...Stock.jpg?dl=0

Second run was with the RAM set to 3200Mhz and manually to 1.35v which the RAM is rated at.
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/olf5loqahk...03200.jpg?dl=0

And finally using the XMP profile.
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/t674xcjo08uwlxp/XMP.jpg?dl=0

I did pick the "Safe" settings from the Thaiphoon thing above but not even seconds into the run it started chucking RAM errors at me, there's a lot of settings that don't seem to be covered in there that I have in my BIOS, and while it booted, it clearly didn't like something..

I'll try some gaming in the morning if I actually get up in the morning rather than about 1pm which seems to have become my new norm, and see what it does, the 3200 vs the XMP doesn't seem to be different as far as I can see but there's a slight difference in CCX and run time, but that could be simple variation, and I did only run the test once per setting...

    Re: Ryzen DRAM Calculator updated

Did you do all the voltages in the BIOS and procodt etc? Try watching a couple of videos on using the DRAM calculator. Maybe try using the settings for 3000 speed and see if that's stable as at least that's better than running at 2400.

    Re: Ryzen DRAM Calculator updated

This is written by the author of the calculator, 1usmus (Yuri Bubliy):

    https://wccftech.com/dram-calculator...-7-1-download/

1.7.1 has deleted the R-XMP button (one extra user action). Now the order is as follows:

    1) The user selects the settings that match his system.

    2) The user presses the "Calculate SAFE" or "Calculate FAST" button and that is it.

The program selects the SPD profile itself relative to the selected DRAM PCB Revision parameter. The DRAM PCB Revision parameter is essentially new and means a PCB revision that has RAM. It is very easy to visually determine the PCB revision:
