No real opinions on the actual boards, but I like using Skinflint to do any comparisons as they've done so much of grunt work:
    https://skinflint.co.uk/?cmp=1845608...32&cmp=2111702
The Gigabyte looks like worst spec'ed of the three although it is the only one which mentioned HDMI 2.0b.
The ASRock has ECC support (mostly noteworthy), and the best USB port selection. As DanceswithUnix already mentioned it has two M.2 slots although the 2nd one is SATA only.

I think I have a change of mind about the 5770 being viable.

How much vram has that thing got on it? I'm guessing 1GB tops, in which case you probably need a new video card. You might get better CPU offload for streaming modern video standards as well, but I'm mainly thinking that 4GB is about the minimum for video ram these days if you don't want a really lumpy experience, maybe 2GB at a pinch for less demanding titles if you find something really cheap second hand.

    UPDATE

    Thanks for your input guys.
I've decided to go for the 3100 + ASRock Mobo + HyperX 16GB RAM.

I'll try the Radeon for what it's worth, but even without it I'll have what I need for now and can add a GFX card later if need be.

It's the 'family PC' used for all sorts, with the kids games being the most demanding task done - Lego Batman, that sort of thing. So this should be more than sufficient. Temptation is always to push for higher and faster but it's not needed so I think this will be a good spot to land.

    Thanks for your input.

I suspect for Lego Batman that will rock! Well done for resisting the slippery slope

Drop in an RX570 card and it will be capable of most recent games, but it sounds like by the time you need that the next gen will be out so there might even be cheap Navi options.

The HyperX RAM arrived today - shiny!

The Mobo and CPU should arrive together, hopefully soon....

Excited to get it all together!

    Re: Mobo/CPU Combo Deals

Well.... it looks like the Radeon card I had is dead. The PC won't power up with it in. I'm going to test another small card a friend has lent me. If the card is dead then I'm going to need a new one...

Sorry to bother you chaps again but does anyone have any suggestions for a budget card - definitely trying to keep the price down on this one. As above, only light gaming by the kids, and then regular home usage - Youtube, Netflix, etc.

    Thanks.

Define budget. A 2nd hand RX 480/580 8gb is doable for circa £100 and gives a lot of bang for buck.

Yeah sorry, "budget" isn't helpful. It's been ages since I bought a discrete card so I'm not sure where prices sit. Up to/around £100 would be great, but maybe up to £200?

Not sure I like the idea of second hand...

    Re: Mobo/CPU Combo Deals

Until last month there was an Ebay seller which was selling Sapphire UK excess stock GPUs,such as RX480/RX580 GPUs for under £100.

If I was buying full price it would be either an RX570 8GB or GTX1660 Super 6GB for under £200:

    Re: Mobo/CPU Combo Deals

Nvidia GPUs with the "super" flag are decent value at that price range, the AMD 5500XT is a bit meh in the 4 GB model and overpriced for the 8 GB model.

I also second CAT's recommendation of the 500 series, they're still great value
