Lian Li O11D lighting strip question

Hey Guys, been a while, but I decided to treat myself to a whole new build.

So far so good, but I have one little issue I can't figure out, it's obviously highly important for the smooth operation of the machine. The O11D has a RGB LED controller, the case is apparently ROG certified, I'm using a Asus RoG motherboard.

Do I just ignore the controller? I was hoping to be able to have the switches actually do something useful?

Re: Lian Li O11D lighting strip question

    Both.
You will have a 3-pin ARGB plug that connects to the relevant header on your motherboard, but I don't believe it is necessary to just run things off the controller.

Pressing the Mode button will scroll through 8 modes... 1-7 will be the on-board controller effects. Mode 8 puts it under the control of the motherboard and whatever software you're running (probably Asus Aura).
Holding this button for 3 seconds turns the lights off.

Below that is a Color button, which scrolls through the static colours.
This is detailed on Page 9 of the manual.

The controller requires SATA power. You can't really mistake it as there's a missing pin, but do be sure you don't accidentally connect the header plug round the wrong way.
This is all covered on page 10 of the manual.

For a board like that, I understand you'll have additional connectors for other RGB things, or perhaps some other components, but without seeing the thing myself I couldn't really say. Again, check the manual for full details.

It would appear I can not count to eight. You'd think I'd manage as I've got enough fingers, but there we go.

After trying again, it's all working under the control of the motherboard, thanks!
