That comes down to a battle of the fabs, can Samsung or TSMC churn out enough parts that someone has enough availability that they can cut the price. If availability is poor all around, then I expect prices will stay as they are for a while.
The big loser in this could he Intel's Xe. Their mountain to climb seems to just get steeper for them, and they don't have spare fab capacity either.
Another person waiting for sub £300 cards here. I notice the cheap RX570/580 cards are starting to dry up as well.
Yeah nice, but still waiting for the mid-range cards from AMD, so far the 3070 is looking nice..
Some RT results supposedly revealed:

So AMD ran some DirectX Ray Tracing benchmark on the 6800 XT and got 471fps.
Someone ran the same benchmark with their RTX 3080 TUF and got 630fps
Source: Our super secret Silicon Palace Discord.Edit!!You beat me to it. I was going to post a figure for the 3080 there as well.
One more to add then: a stock 2080 scores about 308 fps.

AMD tells me it's working on its own super sampling technology, similar to Nvidia's DLSS. It will be open and cross-platform, which could mean it'll come to Xbox Series X and PS5. DLSS is a game changer for Nvidia, so this could be big news.

This is the app they're basing it on, I believe:

for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.
If I can snag an RTX 3070 for £479 today, I'm doing it. Really that's about as high as I'm willing to go for a graphics card, and it will fit nicely into my SFF case that's arriving soon. I was down beat on it yesterday, but on reflection it's got the best price, it's got ample performance, the smallest footprint, the lowest TDP and DLSS which will work out of the box, along with (most likely) better ray tracing performance at this point in time, compared to the 6800. Okay so it's only an 8Gb card, but for the next couple of years I can't see this being a major limiting factor.
AMD came in too price heavy, I was routing for them to give a knock out blow, but they're positioned themselves as market equals before they have the mind share of the general consumer. I think they've hiked prices before they had the ability to justify it as a performance or market leader.
I guess we should have expect this after the pricing for the Ryzen 5000s were announced.
The 3070 is starting to look more like my next card than whatever the AMD card is that's in the sub £500 bracket, I want to buy something before Christmas ideally..
However, the AMD cards are all 16Gb, so will they bring something out that's 8Gb and give us a cheaper card that will compete on price as well as performance, interesting times ahead, but not too far ahead I hope...
AMD is more concerned with short term margins and after buying that company its going to get worse. However,I might say check your mini-ITX case first - I assume its not a sandwich type one?? If it is the way the FE cooler on the RTX3070 works the internal divider will block the airflow for the front fan since it exhausts on the opposite side. Also the RX6800 is apparently shorter than the RTX3070.
Remember, there is also the cheaper RTX3060TI coming out next month.

I'm looking for a 4k gaming card so the 8gb on the 3070 is a non-starter for me. I know many current games are already pushing that and FS2020 is demanding 12gb or more. Depending on benchmarks, I might try to get a 6800 or wait for the 12gb 6700XT or if Nvidia comes out with a 3070 with more VRAM. I'm not in a major hurry so could wait until Q1. It would be nice to upgrade before Christmas though if benchmarks, power draw, price and availability are right for the 6800.

Yep me too. Also, sub 180 watt. Anything more is just too noisy in my case. I've underclocked and undervolted my RX 580 to keep the noise (and temperatures) down.
Consistently max 62 degrees, GPU chip power draw down from over 140 watts to 90-100 watts and no dip in frame rates as my monitor only does 60Hz

It seems to depend on the scenery. Various review sources have reported 12gb VRAM usage on average in dense scenes. (N.B. - on average!)

Anyone have info on the AIB cards? The only I saw today was from MSI's stream they also showed only one card.
