and here's me trying to figure out the size of the bore you'd need to fit an elephant into it.

Among other adventures, I spent several years doing WW2 Living History, and hammering on at CoD kids about how it's a "Bee-Ay-Arr", whereas a "bar" is where we're going later...

Back to big BARs.. gigabyte have done the nice thing of adding resizable bar support to (intel) Z390, I've just noticed the latest beta BIOS for my motherboard has it.

Now I just need to get hold of a GPU that supports it.. NVidia say support is coming with the 3060 release, then March for VBIOS support for other 3000 series: https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce...e-bar-support/

I don't know whether to see if the anti-miner features have any effect on 3060 pricing, or whether to hang on for a mythical 3070 with 16GB..

Well, Computerbase redid their GPU benchmark suite and now have BAR/SAM enabled

But they only show the 6800 XT with and without SAM:

Biggest affect is at 1080p. Still the average 6% is not bad, but some games see near 1% while Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War sees avg 25% and mins 32%.
