The best AMD motherboard under £200

Hi all. I am a happy owner of new Ryzen 5600x . I also bought a motherboard MSI MPG EDGE WIFi B550.
Is any point of getting motherboard with X570 chipset? Is any better motherboard for under £200?
My PC is not built up yet, waiting for Christmas break.

Re: The best AMD motherboard under £200

if you've already got a b550 then short answer, no.
the only difference in the chipsets is the b550 is dropping down from pci-e gen4 to pci-e gen3 on slots controlled by the chipset.
if you look at the motherboard you listed the top pci-e x16 is gen4 so is the m.2 slot with the heat sink above it. (these are directly controlled by the cpu not the chipset)
the 2nd pci-e x16 the 2nd m.2 and the two pci-e x2 are all gen3 that's pretty much it. (these are controlled by the chipset, along with the sound, sata ports and usb ports&headers)

the latest graphics cards are not saturating pci-e x16 gen3, at the moment the only things to really use the speed of pci-e gen4 are some of the very fast and expensive, enterprise level SSD's and some pci-e raid cards eg https://www.scan.co.uk/products/asus...pports-pcie-40 (please note that you need to buy 4 m.2 pci-e gen4 ssd's to put into that card)

No. Pob225 has hit the nail on the head.

Unless of course you do something that require oodles of NVME/PCI-e 4.0 lanes then it would be money down the drain.
Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."
TKPeters: "Off to AVForum better Deal - £20+Vat for Free Shipping @ Scan"
for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.

Re: The best AMD motherboard under £200

The B550 boards tend to have better memory overclocking if you're into that sort of thing, because the chipset was released later than X570 and manufacturers were able tweak memory trace layouts & topologies. (Yeah, I watch a lot of Buildzoid videos ).

Ah right. I thought it was just the 5800X, 5900X & 5950X that were released on the 5th. All pretty rare in the wild though!

Re: The best AMD motherboard under £200

Got it from Ebuyer. Pre ordered on the 1.12, delivered on the 8th Thank you for all answers. I bought MSI Gaming X470 in October, sent back and ordered MSI EDGE B550 and was thinking if for any reason I should go for X570. I don't plan overclocking.

Just built on a MSI Tomahawk x570, the board was rock solid and has every possible connection for me.

Re: The best AMD motherboard under £200

MSI were doing a cashback promotion around Christmas time.

I managed to pick up a B550 Gaming Plus at about £105 (after cashback). It lacks on-board WiFi compared to the Gaming Edge, but I already have a PCIE network card from my previous build.

I've bought X/Z boards in the past and felt that the extra features weren't necessary for my needs.

Around £200 price mark I think the MSI Tomahawk and The Asus TUF X570's are the boards to beat. The difference between B550 and X570 in price is silly imo. You may as well pay the £30-£40 and go X570 as its the newer chipset. That's what I think anyway
