Just wondering :devilish: for the furture, whether my truepwoer 330w would survive the upgrade to 64 bit. I have looked on Antecs website and they say that it can do 22A on the 12+ rails (is that good?). I would only have two optical drives and 2 hardrives at the most. I would keep my 6600gt and run 1gb on an 3000+ winchester or 3200+ winchester. Do you think the PSU would be ok?John
Yeah, that would be fine. My 6800GT, 3500+ and 2 HDs are powered by a 350Watt Nexus Real Silent PSU. You will have no problems...
Whats the amperage on the +12v line of that PSU?
Wattage in of it self says almost nothing.
On their website it says 22A max on 12v+ line, don't know if thats good or not?
Should be fine. 22A is good for a 330W PSU.
So, I wouldn't need to replace my PSU, what about my 1gb pc2700, i'd rather not replace if necessary, is there a bit performance increase with pc3200 as opposed to running dividers with pc2700? Thanks,John
You can use pc2700 but you get better performance with pc3200. It's up to you, you can always upgrade at a latter date.
Are you going Nforce 3 or Nforce 4, as PCI express boards need an ATX v2 psu. I don't know whether this model is or not.
EDIT: just saw that you keeping your old gfx which mean you must be going the AGP route.
What board would you get then that will accept the processor straight out of the box, will accept agp cards, and will be a good overclocker. Thanks, John.
Fine, I run a FX55, X800 XT PE and a WD Raptor off a 250Watt PSU in my shuttle
So, it's not so much wattage, but amperes?
Its about the amps and PSU quality. For instance the shuttle PSUs are very high quality and have very good amps per line which is why they cope.
How ever you also need to have a strong 5 and 3.3v line as well
MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum, its an Nforce3 board so AGP, will work with your current cpu no probs and will be a great clocker.Quote:
