dads pc is dieing

(overclocking problems aswell)
the main problem here is i hate it, its too slow and i cba to fix it everytime it goes wrong. so im considering getting a new base unit, would need to be v cheap, but quiet decent and very stable if any one has one tehy wanna sell me... though ill try fix this anyway.

pc spec:
k6-2 350 o/c to 400 i think with 2.4v or it might be 2.2v (this small overclock is required to even start windows within the time i can be arsed to wait for it)

j-530bf mobo (yes its very rubbishrubbishrubbishrubbishe), latest bios iirc

92mb of rubbishrubbishrubbishrubbishy rubbishrubbishrubbishrubbishy ram. (mobo cant do more than 112fsb stable so its adequeate, hmm mobo might not even do 100fs ... ah well...)

some cheap / semi decent sound card i got second hand

problem:
dad complains it crashes often etc...
so i test for a while on p95, check wcpuid and some other stuff.. the apps he said crash, its fine!
i go away for 30 mins, still fine. then i notice wcpuid/p95 says it has no l2 cache, internal and external cache is enaled in bios, any ideas?
i restarted to check in bios, and from then on it hasnt booted again, crashing at the AVG virus check (win98se machine, so it checks b4 win loads)

the strange thing is this pc has been runnign happly since it was originally a p166, exept every few weeks after i stoped regually using it it kept getting these annoying hardware issues. one stick of ram has died already

tests done:
prime 95, no errors atall for 1hr, restart comp and it cant even get to windows, VERY strange.

memtest86 - done 3 passes no errors, exept also reports "unknown" for l2 cache which should be some where

i think the mobo is dying?

try putting it back to the normal speed - instead of overclocking it
