You would have thought they would have had some type of redundant power supply

If the prices go up, I wonder how soon in 2021 that would be?
How very "inconvenient", it's almost as if the big businesses are trying to capitalise on the already short supply of computer components to line their pockets... or is that just me being cynical?
Yes! Any excuse to drive up prices. Most of which are ridiculously high already! So it doesn't look like I'll be upgrading any time soon, then again I'm more into retro gaming these days.
Oh dear, ram prices were already a bit poor since the xmas frenzy of part buying. Hopefully it wont be toooo bad.
10% of the DRAM supply for the coming months for 1 hour power loss? That seems quite high, no?
Well this is awful news when you're building a new pc! doh!
Well, Micron have about 25% of the DDR4 marketshare, but no idea over how many factories that is.
I guess if the power going meant all wafers in productions at their biggest factory were scrap due to cleanroom contamination 10% might be possible.
Thing is though, if Micron lost 40% of their output (10% / 25%) they would surely have to report this to the stock market first of all as this will have a huge impact on their shareprice and marketshare.
So it might a ploy / excuse. On the other hand of the big three, Micron's costs are meant to be the worst so Samsung and Hynix might be able to take advantage if they have any spare supply, but with Micron being American and with the memory of Trump, MAGA, and general protectionism the Koreans might not want to increase their marketshare currently even if they could. Plus, having a competitor with higher costs should mean a price war is unlikely protecting their own margins.
so collusion? No, your honour. It is regrettable we were unable to assist in this instance... we can't deny the accident worked to our advantage in some ways, but it's all immaterial because we didn't have enough cardboard boxes to ship in even if we had increased production anyway...
I've got loads of old RAM, will those prices go up as well
Can only hope, I have tons of old ram
