Where should I buy a new 160GB Samsung IDE HD?

What stores do you recommend? Ebuyer was my first choice but it is out of stock. I was waiting for the 200GB model but i've heard nothing of it.

    Dabs? OcUK?

I would go for Scan or Komplett, but Komplett seems to be out of stock at the moment. Of course, I would also go for a Seagate

Are Seagate as quiet (seek & idle) and as quality as samsung?

If you are interested, I mistakingly bought a 120GB IDE instead of SATA. You interested?

It is a Samsung Spinpoint with 8mb Cache. 2 Days old and will come with all the boxes. 3 years Warranty.

Seagate are quiet - compared to Samsung, I don't know since I've never owned one. As for quality, that's the main reason I choose Seagate - I have three drives from them, and all three are still working. There's also a five year warranty.

You could always trythe top rated store on Romulus2, Kustom PCs who have them in stock and have a very prompt delivery service and don't give you grief over RMAs (should you ever neeed them).

in my experience samsung are slightly noisier when idle (barely) and seagate are noisier when seeking (again barely) they're much of a much really, though i found the 120gb spinpoints to be the quietest.

You could probably send it back under the distance selling act if you haven't actually used it.

If it's a half decent store, it's unused & you explain they would let you exchange it plus £difference for a SATA imho.
