Using AMD cpu on an Intel mobo.

Has this already been talked about on hexus?

Anyway i read in the new PC extreme that ECS at the cebit thing
was showing the above title. To make it work a small pseudo mobo
is plugged into what i guess is some PCIe slot.

I couldnt quite see the point in it though... apparently it will cost a 1/3
of what a normal mobo will.

There's not much point for the home user unless you're terminally indecisive. I suppose you could use it to have a 'best of both worlds' system, using a P4 for video encoding and an A64 for gaming.

For system builders I guess it might enable them to offer more flexibility to customers; also since they both use ULI chipsets (I'm pretty sure?) you can probably ghost the same image onto both Intel and AMD systems with no driver issues. Gotta be a bit of a cost saving there.
