Question Recommend me an A64 SFF Please?

    Hey people,
I am looking to change to using a SFF system. However I would like your suggestions/help please...

These are the bits I have at the moment:

    Monitor
    Radeon 9700 Pro Graphics
512 Mb DDR (need another 512)
    CDRW + DVD drive

And this is what I would like:

    A64 capable Shuttle (SN85?)
    A64 Processor
    120Gb SATA hdd

I am trying to build a nice quiet and compact system. Thank you to anyone who reads and espcially those who post.

    Thanks,
    Leon

The SN85 or SN95 would do the job. The SN95 being Socket 939 which will have a better upgrade path than the SN85's Socket 754. The SN95 also has a 90mm fan which is a little quieter than the SN85's 80mm. Other than cosmetic differences, the only other concern is cost, which is going to be a fair bit cheaper for the SN85 and S754 route.

    Thanks for the information guys

If I use a SN85 and a SATA hard drive, will I need a usb floppy drive to install the drivers or can I just temporarily plug in a normal floppy drive?

    Thanks again,
    Leon

It's an nForce3 250 chipset so you shouldn't need to load a SATA driver for a single drive.

Thats the one I got mate and its rapid!

Its the best bang for the buck out there at around £140. Its clock speed is 2.4 Ghz which is the same clock speed as an FX-53, 3700+, 3800+ and a 4000+.

    Check out this comparison.

You may have already seen it on the other thread.

Really it should be called a 3600+!!!
