Recommendations for an 80mm fan

Hi guys

I'm in need of an 80mm fan, 3 pin or 4 pin PWM connection (not Molex, unless there's a tail for RPM monitoring). It's for a CPU cooler. The objective is to be quieter than what's on there currently (one of these running at about 3500rpm). I'd say it needs to be at least 35cfm, and ideally 2500rpm or more, but no more than 350mA/4.2W. More CFM is more better, and to an extent the same with RPM too (motherboard gets grumpy with low RPM). But low noise!

Any ideas? My go-to was Noctua but nothing fits the bill.

To be honest, my first port of call is Noctua, too. BeQuiet are usually, well, pretty quiet.

Personally, fans are one of the two things I prefer to go for the best I can get which, while not necessarily the most expensive, usually aren't cheap either. The other thing, by the way, is the PSU. I always go for the best bearing type I can find (depending on use), including MagLev, but don't give a hoot about RGB ec. My reasoning is if a fan fails, or just slows down, it's nearly always the bearing and I'm lazy so avoiding early failure is a boon. Also, failures can get very expensive, but not to the extent it used to.

As for meeting that exact spec, dunno.

If you want quiet, then perhaps give us some more details on what case, cpu, heatsink & motherboard you are using along with some idea of your budget. You could try a 92mm or 120mm fan on a fan adaptor, but a whole new CPU cooler would probably work out way better.

Thanks folks. No progress on this yet my end, I did continue hunting around but no concrete options yet, just some possibilities.

I'd love to go to a 120mm if I can squeeze one in, but it would need an adapter and I've yet to find one that would fit the cooler (which has clips that fit a normal fan body). To answer your questions, it's an Antec SX630II case, Athlon 1400, CoolerMaster X-Dream (HAC-V81) CPU cooler, and ASUS A7V133 motherboard.

OK, I see your problem. That's quite a retro bit of kit there, and ISTR those cpus were always tricky to cool quietly.

Do you know anyone with a 3D printer? They can probably help you design a custom adaptor. It is usually recommended to go for static pressure on CPU fans rather than airflow as well, so don't get too carried away on the cfm rating.

Funny i use to have a 80mm to 120mm shroud / adapter on my Shuttle SFF (long time ago)
