It was Viking Direct, so not exactly an unheard of company! Maybe just more used to B2B sales than individuals? Don't really fancy paying by bank transfer though so I'm out.Please inform us of this scam site information. Definitely. Credit card payments get extra protections that you don't get with bank transfers.
Exactly. I would never purchase something online with any site without using my credit card. Even if it costs more because I have to buy from elsewhere. Even tiny businesses have access to credit card payments these days so you have to ask what valid reasons any business could have to not accept credit card payment.

BROTHER HL-L2400DWE ordered from Amazon, £99.99. Another hotukdeal. Hoping I can just ignore the EcoPro subscription... Arriving end of the month
Only thing I can think of is that if they trade on tiny margins, not wanting to have most of it taken in credit card fees. Not likely to be the case with Viking Direct, though.
We did have a problem with one supplier recently. The wife's card got turned down. We went to the card company and said "WTF !!!"
It turned out the merchant was using some intermediary payment processor and they failed the transaction for some reason. The transaction never got as far as the card company. They knew nothing at all about it, and certainly hadn't refused the transaction.
Apparently this "intermediary" was supposed to be a measure to reduce fraud. Well, denying all transactions would certainly reduce fraud. It'd also reduce turnover to zero, but at least, it'd stop fraud.
A lesson learned from PeterB about dignity in adversity, so Peter, In Memorium, "Onwards and Upwards".
Well what can I say, it's a printer... I ended up with the "E" version because that was on sale which comes with the FREE ecopro subscription trial - fortunately completely optional. Wifi setup on the tiny screen no trouble, detected by Windows straight away and printed without a manual driver install or any bloatware in sight.
A bit of buyers remorse that I didn't investigate properly and wait for one that comes with an ethernet port as well as wifi. I think I'd looked at some many different ones trying to work out the difference I missed the thing I actually cared about! I do need to either find or invest in a right angled kettle lead, it's the perfect size to go on top of my Kallax units but is currently sideways due to the 3 inch cable protrusion.
Now to follow the multi-step process to make the old printer 'ready to recycle'

Still very happy with it. Paper is neat and tidy in the tray. I realised I needed a couple of copies of something printed this morning, turned it on, printed, turned it off. Quick, simple and just works. I should have gone laser years ago...
Old one went to the tip after a super hard reset and removal of account information, subscription cancelled and new kettle lead procured so it sits properly on the unit.
I'll be back with an update in a few years when I need new toner...

Lasers are great, toner in my HP seems to last forever. Not that I print much though but still

Wow, so 507 pages later and we're out of toner! My other half's printer at work is out of action so this one has taken a bit of a beating in the last couple of weeks. I didn't expect we'd be hitting that page count for a long time but there we go. Official statement on the bundled toner was "upto 700 pages" so all things considered (and looking at the slides which have been churned out) I don't think it's done too bad.
Replacement toner time, let's see just how horrific official ones before shopping around.
I have used "copy" toners for quite a while but quality does vary even from the same source.
You just can't beat official toners even though the prices are normally sky high
