best mouseing surface for logitech mx1000

as the title says what is the best surface for useing my mouse on theres so many aluminium and glass etc surfaces to choose from now but i dont know which one will be best

i occasionally get the mouse jumping up to top of screen which is annoyng plus the feet of the mouse make the desk dirty plus i would prefer it on a dedicated mouseing surface one that tracks well during games etc and looks good !!

i will also do the little tip i saw on these forums of useing teflon paper from a supermarket

Weebroonieuk - I have that mouse and use a Ratpadz gs http://www.ratpadz.com/

I'm happy with it. Mouse mat does occasionally need a scrub with some soapy water now and then just to keep it optimal. I have to say I would be interested in what others have found.

not so keen on a plastic surface i would prefer a metal or glass one but im not sure the glass ones are too good for optical mice ??

ofcourse if the right plastic one comes along it will be purchased !

i dont use that mouse (intellimouse for me) but i do use the ratpadz gs and its amazing, i couldnt believe the difference, never mind the great accuracy, its like using your mouse in ice!! effortless movement, highly reccomended, esp if pcworld components are still doing them for a fiver !

Someone posted something a while back about buying a teflon baking tray from sainsburys and cutting it up. Better than most mousemats

I use ratpadz these days. Have used glass (icemat) & metal (coolermaster) and didn't like them. For one the glass surfaces tend to be well noizy if you're playing a game that involves heavy mousing like UT2004 or CS. I also found the metal ones wore the mouse feet & I had to replace them (maybe it was a duff mat, rougher than usual).

So another vote for ratpadz here.

i thought people just cut up the teflon bakeing paper or whatever it is and stuck it to the mouses feet to let it glide around ?

icemat 2 review here http://forums.hexus.net/showthread.php?t=34837 if your interested. I have an MX1000 (since that post - must amend it) and it works amazingly well with the ice mat 2. Great with the pad surfers but even better with Mouse skatez. Like it floats on air. Also, i have a little bit of a jumping issuse with this mouse, but it turned out to be my USB port and it works perfectly in the PS2 port.

hehe well i was away ordering the ratpad and £10 copper cpu heatsink which im going to chop up and use for little ram sinks and anything else i can cut to fit !

i will try useing the ps2 adaptor for my mouse mate hope it solves it

I have had mine three days and now it won't move, in either PS2 or USB, I am sooo angry i really don't wanna HAVE to install the logitech bloatware, someone help me before I have to lol

I wonder if one of those mini air hockey tables would work?
I'm OK just using my desk. But I am tempted by an Icemat, wish I could try one out somewhere. Then again, the Ratpadz are so cheap at PCW Component Centre. Decisions, decisions!
