    Shuttle Push Pull Update

Finally moved my internal 80mm fan to outside the cpu shroud to complete the full 80mm push > 120mm pull on my SN85G4v2.

Now looking better than ever temp wise?!
    CPU
    Ambient
    HDD
    PWM

Next is the 2nd hdd instead of the media card slot as I never use it and have more need for gb!

    edit:

This setup is more than whisper quiet, the gfx card is running @ 20% with 80 and 120mm fans on full whack.

What is your ambient (outside case) temp when you recorded those? Must be pretty low to achieved 20 degrees on a HDD.

Hi Randell, I have some questions.

Firstly I have the v3 vesion of your shuttle but I am wondering about the power draw of having 2 drives in the system. I have an x800xt in mine and am worried that if i put in another hard drive it would be pushing the limits of the psu. What is your setup?

Also what does the front panel look like when you replace the card reader with the hard drive. Is it visible at all? have you got a photo?

Dont have the 2nd HDD in yet, should be in by Tue. I've seen plenty of people on sudhian with dual hdd and they dont seem to have reported any problems at all.

Front panel just looks as per normal, bar the fact if you look in you can see the hdd/empty space.

Yah, I have dual drives in my SN95G5, its fine. No problems at all.

Hey Randell, how's the sound off that push/pull assembly? Hard to tell what they are doing by your screen shot as they all read 0 RPM. I am thinking of doing a 92 mm push/pull on my system, mostly to see if I can lower the revs and thus the sound levels. Typically, push/pull (or fans in series) are used to overcome static pressure issues, like long duct runs. That doesn't seem to be an issue with the ICE radiator.

It does help temps a little but nothing like the difference you get with a radiator sandwiched inbetween.

I think it was on SFF Tech forums that this was posted and he's using a vantec 'stealth' a tornado or something.... it's edited out now.

Anyway, I want to know how you did that, 45Gv2 with a 3200+ XP can't get below 40 degrees at load with my papst 120mm at full whack, case on, rear grill cut, AS5 applied and ambient temps at 21-23 degrees. I get around 35 degrees idle.

    EDIT: Kool'n'Quiet helps a bit I'm sure

    Room temp : 19oC
    Vcore : 1.09V

These stas were taken @ 12 as the system is up 24/7 so its not a just booted, using shuttle mesh cover.

    Full load for 2hr ( vcore 1.5v ) :
    37oC cpu
    26oC ambient
    29oC hdd
    40oC pwm
    GFX full load after 5hr of CS:S and SWAT 4 : 52oC

The 120mm fan is on 24/7 @ 100% as its 14db so it needs no temp control and is nearly unaudioable. The 80mm is 21db and is either on 100% as it was there or totally off as 50% sounds the same as full.

Done this on an SN95G5 yet?

Has anybody done this on a Shuttle SN95G5 yet?

I'm curious about lowering my overall temps inside the case and the CPU, itself.
