    Crucial memory overclocking 1GB Dimms

has anybody used crucial 1GB pc3200 dimm`s (not the Ballistix) if so how high a FSB clock above the DDR400 (200FSB with 2x 1GB) did they go on a AMD64 motherboard and what CAS. thanks

I should think not a lot being that the sticks will have a high density amount of chips which is never good for overclocking.

Most crucial 512MB sticks I have seen only have hit the 215-220MHz range @ 3-3-3-8 so I should think that the 1GB sticks will do even worse.

    OCZ make some 1GB sticks.

Firelord speaks truth - the bigger the stick the worse it is for overclocking. I'm sure there are fast 1gb sticks out there, but the chances of a 400mhz stick going very far are minimal i'm afraid.

maybe you'll get lucky.... but dont expect anything really

these have trouble overclocking by 1mhz... i'm not joking I have 2 in my computer! Was the start of my 'i can't be arsed to OC anymore period! Mine went in an abit ic7-max3 with pc power & cooling psu - would not run at the correct 'intel' latencies, but ran ok at the amd ones for the specified voltage.

Also, remember that any decent clocking chips are probably used in their ballistix line.

did you play around with the cas timings to see if you could get it to go higher.

Had a go with 4x dimm`s 512 crucial. the fsb went up to 248 at cas 3,3,3,8 but only at T2 ( note the dimms are old, before crucial started selecting chips for the ballistix range of dimms) so good at high FSB. 2 of the dimm`s top out at 255 and the other just under 250.
Don`t no what new pc3200 512 will do but looking at the other forums very poor.

Those are Hynix chips. Not sure on the OC potential on them, but they'll probably top out around 240Mhz.

I've had PDP 2x1GB sticks rated for DDR400 3-3-3-8. They're Micron -5BC chips (same as OCZ EB) on brainpower PCB. All micron 1GB density chips are limited to 3-3-3 timings. They will not run any lower no matter what you throw at them.

I was able to get upto 252Mhz stable with them though, with 2 sticks and 3-3-3 @ 3.1-3.2v.

yep, they would not budge either, not one of em - the only positive was that it did (and does) however run fine at stock voltages too, so bumping it up to the 2.8 (2.75 recommended) did fork all bar make it hotter!

Hi hkpolice are we talking 128 x 64 chip density per dimm. that not a bad fsb for 1 gb dimms

Ya, 1GB double sided stick. I'd say that all micron 1GB sticks are able to hit such speeds. Samsung 1GB sticks I'm not so sure about though.
