Need help spec for a new AMD 64 (939)

got a quick one for you. my friend needs a new amd 64 939 system built quickly. so not having built one before can you check theese spes for me. he isent into overclocking and not a huge gamer but likes the main titles but wont be too crazy about fps.

are these compatible , any other connectors I need for the mobo or pci-express ?

Also recommend me a Hsink and fan for the above and a pci-express gcard for around £150

Any 6600GT should meet his need and they're well below 150

For gfx, I'd go for a 6600gt. Canbe had for £105 at dabs IIRC or £115 at LOW.

HSF - if buying retail, the stock one if not, a freezer64?

If you can find an X800XL it's a lot better for not much more money. Also I'd steer clear of the ABit board. Had bad luck with them recently (last couple of years). If he's not overclocking I'd go with the ASUS A8V-E Deluxe.

If he's not overclocking much get the retail box CPU and use the HSF it comes with. If you really need better cooling you should figure out how much better. The Thermalright XP-120 is the best HS but it's a bit pricey. The TT Venus 12 is nice because it's simple to install and much cheaper than the XP-120, and it takes up less space. It is noisey though if you turn the fan up full. Of course it cools very well while doing this. You can turn the fan down to about 2000 RPM though which makes it silent. I usually run them about 3800RPM which is the lower side (it can go up to 5800 RPM if you need it) and it's pretty quiet and cools well at this setting.
