URGENT- CPU Clock speed
Hi,
I've just built myself a PC with and AMD Athlon 64 3500+ processor and gigabyte k8nxp sli motherboard which is designed for this processor.
When the system goes through the boot sequence, the CPU clock speed comes up as 200MHz instead of 2.2GHz. What's going on here?
I changed the BIOS settings from:
CPU frequency: 200
CPU Spread Spectrum: Centre Spread
PCIE Clock: 100MHz
k8 CPU Clock Ratio: Default
CPU Voltage Control: Normal
to
CPU frequency: 200
CPU Spread Spectrum: Centre Spread
PCIE Clock: 100MHz
k8 CPU Clock Ration: x11 2200Mhz
CPU Voltage Control: Normal
and saved the settings. When I boot the PC, it still says the clock speed is 200MHz.
This website seems to show this as being correct:

I'm confused. Shouldn't it show 2.2GHz on startup?
All help is greatly appreciated.

That link is broken.
Are you sure it's not just reporting the 'front side bus' speed?
-
Get into windows and see if it says 2.2Ghz under properties of "My computer". You should not need to worry about bios setting / display if it runs at 2.2Ghz in windows.

I'm installing the Operating System now. Will see if it reports differently.
-
It says "Over CPU clock frequency"
So is that how much you're overclocking by rather than absolute clock speed?
-
It's set at 200 x 11, which is 2.2Ghz. Don't worry.
-
Yeah, it's just reporting the external clock, wich is where it should be, 200MHz.

Thanks, everyone.
I've installed the operating system and the motherboard came with software to look at the speed of the CPU and it is indeed around the 2.2GHz mark.
Once again, thanks.
