Exclamation CRASH - Unlike I have ever seen...

OMG! So I'm sat here, minding my own business, doing nothing out of the ordinary when BOOM my comp crashes. Now normally I wudnt be too bothered, it wud either just freeze the screen or give me a BSOD but this one is new to me...

I aint got the fainest idea why but when it crashed thats what came up on my screen, maybe one of you guys can think why?

    Any thoughts are much appreciated.

Well I have 2 computers so I could have got on even if it hadn't restarted...

It restarted fine but everything is not fine, I tried running 3D Mark to see what happens. After a lot of crashes and a BSOD I now know that I either need the latest drivers or new hardware....and I have the latest drivers

Any o/c'ing going on? Perhaps try using safe BIOS settings and maybe even underclocking to see if that can make you stable. If you can run an antivirus scan on the HD it's worth a try too. I'd suggest you try each of your key components (gfx, RAM, CPU) in a working PC to ascertain the problem part(s).

Well there's no o/c. Everything it at stock. I've tried running a virus scan and defrag and both completed fine. Homw hand you test the gfx if its onboard? RAM, CPU and HDD are all good.

Does the SS40G have an AGP slot, if so stick in acard and see if things are stable. The onboard gfx tend to be pretty quirky and are obviously slow TBH, the SiS chipset is pretty old too ... has it ever given you any problems before or did this all come out of the blue?

It has 2 PCI slots and no AGP.

I've had little problems in the past but only ever when doing things which cud've given any computer problems. I've never had it randomly crash for no obvious reason before like this.

Try a PCI gfx card. Never heard of this problem before, is it only on 3dmark or does it run with any other games aswell?

I dont have a PCI graphics card and I dont wanna get 1 just for this.

I don't believe its anything specifically to do with 3D Mark, I just needed something which was graphically demanding thats all.

My Gainward graphics card did the same thing when it was dying. But just to double check the RAM though I'd nab the stuff from your other machine and see if the same thing still happens. If not is it still under warranty?

Okay, I'll shall give my RAM 1 more check, see what happens.

I can't see it still being under warranty as it has been a wee bit modded since I got it.
