    Gateway back in UK...

Any ex-Gateway owners here? Hasn't shown up on the DSG web sites yet but I heard from someone yesterday that Gateway PC's will be showing up in retail in the next few weeks at Dixons group stores. Not sure what models are coming but looks likely to be budget stuff. Still I'm amazed how many old Gateway PCs I see around still working and in regular use

    Talking

    Well i'll be...

Still got 2 Gateway 2000 PC's about and several screens. All working well. Slowest is a P60 from the mid-90's with all the OEM bits and a 512MB HDD .

Always thought them pulling out of the UK was a shame but the market has changed a lot since they left. Pairing up with DSG does NOT seem like the sharpest idea to me unfortunatly however and I would assume that anything that was unique about the old Gateway is long gone and we are talking a basic box shifter these days.

You could argue that they never fullly left
PCWorld have been selling emachines PC's for years & of course for the last couple of years emachines have been owned by Gateway.

I still use a gateway, as a third PC. It just sits there, looking after lots of files for me. It's like a library of all my old downloads and programs.
And yes, those cow boxes were ace.

You didn't need any excuse to post that.

Wow that's great news! The first PC to hit our household was a Gateway 2000 486 DX2-66 in 1995, absolutely great memories... also brings a tear to my eye just to think of it
