New Rig - AMD 64 / Nvidia Based Setup - Thoughts Please

What are peoples thought son the following mobo and grafx combo :
    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Produ...oductID=172710

Im a fan of gigabyte and so this is a nice option.

Team that with a AMD 64 3700 Sandiego with the 1mb l2 cache

Possibly buy another of the same grafix card for a bit of SLI action.

Wasnt sure whether to spend lots of money on the 6800ultra or go for 2 6600gt's?

My budget for the whole rig is running around £1600 quid.

I also want a water cooling system for the cpu and gpu/gpus.

And the case i was looking at is the ThermalTake Armor....altho im open to suggestions regarding that

    Thoughts please

    cheers

The GD-1 twin 6600 card cannot be SLI'ed as its already using SLI to connect the 2 GPU's together. If your looking to use SLI in the future then this would not be an ideal choice.

Most benchmarks which have this 6600 bundled card and board shown that just 1 6800GT card is better for gaming and this then gives the scope to add another card later on when you want to increase the power of the GPU's

As for case, heh well thats a hard one as its really down to personal preferences and one man's eyecandy is another man's beast from hell so choose whichever you eyes like

    hope this helps...

A big expensive 6800 Ultra. You can stick another 6800 in and SLi soon enough, provided you have a good job

Old - But still going strong

Mind you - thats a very nice combo for someone like myself who wants a decent 939 rig, but isnt likely to go for SLI ....

twin 6600GTs is stupid. As above and an ultra is better. Get a dfi sli board.

Well if you thinking 6600gt sli'd then just go for the Gigabyte bundle, excellent performance value and as good or better in some things than a single ultra or XTpe.

By the way its cheaper at Ocuk unless you prefer scan.

I would recommend XFX, Gainward, Asus ( mainly due to the gamevoice - well fun seening your friends throwing mice when you kill them...) and BFG.

All the named above have great glowing reports from people in this forum and are so of the most popular
