Well, I can get a 160GB Lacie drive for £70 or a 250GB for £90.
A colleague has one, and it seems quite strong and well made, plus they have a 2 year warranty, so I think I may go for one of these and see how I get on...
I may consider an IcyBox for home use though!

The icy box is really nice. Keeps my seagate very cool as it's basically 2 slabs of aluminium on either side as a heatsink and vents on the sides to allow air to flow around the drive so no noisey fan required.
Might even be worth getting one warranty wise if you stick a seagate drive in because of their 5 year warranties.
Having said that the Lacie drive comes as a sealed box so might make your boss feel better and they are meant to be nice drives.

Very handy when buying stuff for the school and for me to use at school! But thats about it.
I still pay VAT for all my personal stuff of course, I'm not that lucky....
