    Undo RAID-0

I've had my 2 HDD's set up in a RAID-0 configuration for a few months now and have had no problems. However, I want to undo RAID-0 as I want to use one drive as an archive/storage drive and the primary drive for OS/apps.

I guess I have no choice but to back up anything important and reinstall XP Pro? If so, is there a list anywhere that shows the important things to back up? I know I have to back up my Outlook e-mail folders, My Documents and My Favourites but i'm sure there are many other things that should be saved to make reinstallation a bit easier. I'm really just after a checklist.

What I will be doing after the reinstall is to use TweakUI XP to point My Documents and My Favourites to the D: drive as this will make future reinstalls of XP much simpler.

To remove RAID0 you'll have to copy off all the data you want to keep and reformat the drive. So yes, it's reinstall time.

If you use the XP backup utility and do a copy backup of the whole machine and the system state, you should be able to just restore it on to the machine after just doing a basic OS install. Do you have something like a USB hard disk that you can back up onto?

I do have a 120GB USB hard disk. However, the amount of data I need to archive could probably fit onto a dual-layer DVD.
