    do i need to install any sata drivers?

    doing a fresh installation of xp with my sata drive this will be the only hd im using will i need to install any drivers during the xp installation?

    Short answer ..... YES

    Hit F6 when install starts and load the drivers from a floppy, if you still have one of those things.

    If you have an option to set the SATA mode to IDE in your BIOS then you may not have to. I just undid my RAID-0 configuration yesterday and went back to two separate SATA drives. I had to set the SATA mode to IDE and Windows just saw the two drives as IDE drives. Of course, all of this depends on your motherboard and BIOS.

    If you use a Nforce 3/4, with 1 drive, then no, you don't.
