    Is there such a thing as a molex terminator?

    The title says it all really. Recently I've been having trouble turning on the computer - PSU on but nothing happening when I pressed the button. The strange thing was it seemed to work fine when I tipped the case on its side, tonight I found out why.

    Anyone who knows the Antec case I have knows the 120mm fan at the back is powered from a molex pass-through connector. I noticed tonight that the unused end of the molex lead was actually touching a motherboard component periodically, probably creating a short. I've tied it up now, but I'd really like to get something non-conducting to fit on the end of the connector to terminate it safely. Is it possible to get molex connectors without the copper sleeve inside? Or can it be pulled out of an existing one? I just hope the motherboard isn't damaged.

    You can take the pins out of a molex connecor, but then you'd have loose wire, which is even worse. Best tip is to loop the connector back on itself and tie it up next to one of its bretheren.
    PHP Code:
    $s = new signature();
    $s->sarcasm()->intellect()->font('Courier New')->display();

    Thanks guys. What I was talking about was using a male connector to terminate the plug, but with no exposed metal to touch the motherboard. I'm also really concerned about possible damage from this, although all voltages, temps etc seem fine, and everything is spinning ok.

    You can buy the conectors, from Rapid and places like that. I think you can get UV ones and things from Ebuyer. Just dont wire them up. And you have a handy end. One of my mates dell's has little black rubber things on it. Nice touch.

    Any kind of tape will do just fine. Or you can go big and get those little plastic caps.

    kustompc's sell 'empty' molex too, but yes, you can get proper caps for them - I got a few with my psu, but managed to loose all but 1!!
