Athlon 64 X2 with a Athlon TBird Cooler?

Hi,

Not sure if i'm hoping for too much here but I still have my SLK800 from my current setup (TBird 3000) that I'd like to use on the X2 4400 that will be coming my way soon :).

I've heard these are pretty cool chips anyway, but the question is - can I use my existing heatsink? If not, will it be worth upgrading from the stock HSF? I doubt I'll be clocking the chip - unless anyone can chip in with any thoughts as to whether it will be a good clocker :)

hmm tricky one :)

I would really recommend using the retail cooler that you get with the X2 processor until the other coolers are all certified and passed by AMD.

Oh and if anyone is wondering about whats so special about the 4400?:

An SLK800 should be capable of cooling the chip fine, but since it's a Socket A cooler I doubt you'll be able to mount it on a Socket 939 motherboard- at least not easily.

I've read in one review that the retail heatsinks are rated up to fx-57 in ability... if thats the case, I certainly wouldn't recommend a socket a cooler.
