Dual Celeron socket 370

Hi.....i know this is quite old school stuff, but......

I have an old dual socket 370 motherboard, that works fine with a single celeron. I quickly put 2 in and it didnt seem to like running 2 celerons. I did a bit of research and found that the celly's dont like running dual CPU's.

However if you have a converter card (so you can use a 370 in a slot 1 motherboard) you could connect the AN16 pin to the B75 with a wire and it would allow it to run in dual with another modded celly. (http://www.cpu-central.com/Articles/...index-370.html)

As i have a dual socket 370 mobo i was wondering if it is still possible to do this with socket 370? I assume that the AN16 pin is there, but would the B75 thing be there?

There are only two boards which can run dual socket 370 Celerons, they are the Abit BP6 and an obscure one from QDI or someone like that. The only Celerons that can run in dual mode are the original (cacheless) slot celerons, or the 'black' PPGA Celeron-As, which only went up to 533MHz (or maybe 566, I forget).

If you've got a dual PIII board (I.E. FCPGA/FCPGAII), then you're out of luck AFAIK, Intel completely disabled SMP operation in the FCPGA generation Celerons. You'll need a pair of Pentium IIIs.

People don't buy Celerons for performance. They buy them because they are cheap. Since dual CPU machines are anything BUT cheap running dual Celerons is not something anybody should want to do.

Yeah, which is why the BP6 became one of the classic enthusiast boards and still has a cult following even today. Back in the day a BP6 with a couple of OCed Celerons was an extraordinary amount of computing power for the money.

Well its becuase i got a dual board for P3's, just havent got round to buying them, hehe. And i have 2 celly's just doing nothing so thought i may as well whack them in a try.

I have a dualie (PIII 1GHz chips) and it can't even outcrunch a stock 2400+ Athlon XP (not even close really).

It's also why almost ZERO manufacturers made such a motherboard, and it's why Celerons have not had SMP capabilities since. Also, I've never seen any cults following motherboards, especially dual Celeron boards. Who you trying to kid?

Dual celerons actually kicked Slot-1 P3 ass in many applications thanks to their on-die cache.
