Configuring a new Firewire/capture card?

Hi thanks in advance for your help!

I have brought a new 4 port 1394/capture card as i was told my original i394 port thats on my Audigy 2 soundcard would not be adequate to Capture my footage from my new DV Camcorder! So now i have it can i just plug it into a spare pci slot that i have and would that be it? Or would i need to do something else? I also have a 56k Connextant Modem/Fax installed that i no longer use as i now connect through a usb ADSL Modem. So can i also just remove this with no other configuration?
Also the Conflicts/sharing section in Sys Info is a bit complicated for a noob,as it contradicts itself! So which components are ok to share with each other? And whats the max amount that can be on 1 IRQ?

Ps My Bios is set so the OS handles PNP! Is that good or bad?

yep, just put your new card in. Your old modem will need its drivers removed.
