    New psu reccomendations

    I've just installed a new pair of Noconas in my motherboard and I now get my system randomly reboots, so it looks like I need a new psu, I've tried different o/s RAM/gfx always the same, so I'm 90% certain its the psu the other 10% of me is saying it could be motherboard

    Currently I've got an Enermax 550w (std non-EPS) and that isn't up to the job, so no reccomendations of less than that pls.

    Currently I'm looking at:
    Antec 550w 12V EPS
    660W Enermax Coolergiant (EG851AX-VH EPS 12v)

    Tbh I'm leaning towards the Antec as its £40 cheaper and has higher ampage on the 12v rail, also I've heard some good things about them ..... even though its rated the same as what I've got it should be better as it has the correct 24/8pin supply connectors.

    thx.

    Well my Tagan does a right job and is EPS capable.

    However, it might be worth asking FSP's representatives what they have to offer too.

    I ended up taking three weeks to choose a PSU as I had so many to choose from. However, in the end, I was glad I looked at all the options
    PHP Code:
    $s = new signature();
    $s->sarcasm()->intellect()->font('Courier New')->display();

    The FSP option is a tad overpriced imo, its over £20 more than the Antec ....... I looked at it a while ago and decided the Antec was better value for money.

    edit: I was looking at the specs for the wrong FSP psu - the one I'm interested (sigle high amp 12v line) I can't find in the UK, I've just posted in their forum as well

    Ok, anyone got any comments on:

    Tagan 530-U22 Power Supply, 530w and has 32A on the 12V line and can be either split or combined.
    +12V = 32A (35A)
    or
    +12v1 = 20A and +12v2 = 20A

    I have a question. What makes you think it's the PSU? If you have the problem without overclocking and with little or no load it is NOT your PSU. My money is on the CPU/cooling/seating or the motherboard VR's, or perhaps improper BIOS settings.

    Is the PSU old? If it is not malfunctioning it is enough. Does it have all the connections your motherboard needs?

    Edit:

    You do need a new PSU, but not because of a lack of power. You need the AUX power connectors.

    StormPC, I never said it was a lack of power in my psu that was the problem, what I think it is is that it can't supply the power correctly for the board without the correct 24/8pin connectors, hence looking for an EPS psu with a similar rating to what I have now
    Asus do say its ok to use the 20pin connector in the 24pin socket ....

    It looks like it was my mobo after all, as overnight something has died. The board appears to power up but no post beep then no display, but power is still going to the board, theres no error beeps either.

    So far I've removed the board from the case and have tried it with just 1 cpu gfx and 1 stick of RAM - always the same. I've tried 4 different cpu's, diffferent RAM, different RAM slots, 3 gfx cards, always the same ..... I'll keep trying today, but it looks like the boards gotta go back for an RMA

    However I'm still looking for an EPS psu and still can't decide, I've now got it down to:
    Antec 550w 12V EPS
    Tagan 530-U22 Power Supply
    Seasonic S12 600w

    Anyone?
