So i got 2 coasters today trying to burn Taiyo Yuden discs, Lead-out failure

Has anyone had Lead-out issues before?

The drive reads and writes CDs and DVDs fine, except for this ISO file i was trying to write, but i dont know if that is a factor. I manage to burn DVDs before and after the 2 coasters in a row.

Heres a screen cap of the error:

It was doing lead-out then failed, twice in a row on the same spot, and i think it was the same ISO i was writing, could be a different but similar one though

I think you need a faster writer. Fast discs doesn't like being write at low speed.
You'll need disc rated at 4x in order to burn at 2.4x without problem.
8x discs (which I think you're using) are designed for high speed and if you use those the error rate will increase.

If you are already using 4x TY discs then I don't have a clue

ah, i'm using 8x discs, but my drive only goes up to 4x

I heard it was safest to burn at half the disc speed, any truth to that?

Do you happen to know where to get good 4x DVD-R discs that are reliable and long-lasting?

    My drive specifications:

    http://vaio.sony-europe.com/PageView...ku=VGNS3HP.CEK

looks like its a max of 2.4x, i thought it was 4x. So i'll have to find some 4x discs.

But i dont understand how it had the same error on two discs, burning similar isos, while the other half dozen dscs did fine.

I doubt it matters TBH, have you tried the discs to see if they work? I find that most will work fine without a leadout.

I've burned a load of datawrite red and yellows at 4x and they were all fine. Now I got some 8x disk and still burning at 4x on my pioneer 105 and have got 2 coasters so far out of a 25 pack. Damn I never new that burning at slower speed was a problem, I thought it was better in fact. I really should shell at £30 ona faster burner and give this one to someone.

I do have a faster external burner, but i bought a new laptop with a built-in DVD RW so that i didnt have to bother with the external drive. But looks like i'm back to square one

Ok, so i burned an image to a ridisc 4x disc at 2x perfect, no errors.

Then i tried to do the exact same image at the same speed onto a fuji taiyo yuden 8x disc, but it only let me choose 2.4x.

It's in progress now at 2.4x and i'll edit the post with the results. If this fails, i'm ordering the Traxdata 4x DVD+R 100 pack from rambox tonight

Ok, i bought some 4x Ridata discs, apparently Ridata are the good stuff, straight from Ritek.

Burnt at 2.4x, exactly the same error burning an ISO

So now what can i do ,
