DFI Lanpaty Battle with Asus

Hi all,

I have just recieved my copy of Custom PC and theres a get review of the DFI Lanparty SLI-DR and the Asus A8N-SLi Deluxe. (DFI 84% Asus 90%)

It still looks like the DFI has the better Clocking option and better features in the BIOS, but the Asus mobo has the better SLi setup due to the laarger gap between the PCI-E slots....They got the DFI's FSB to 425mhz with a low multiplier.

Whats your thought guys, what do you think is better? I'm still going with the DFI as it has the better clocking options.

I have the Ultra-D (same as the SLI-D/DR apart from chipset) and its a great board!

Does have its niggles and can be a pain to setup BUT a little persevernce goes a long way!

The Ultra D is the one without the SLi, right?

I agree with what CPC have said really. The Asus is a damn fine board - stable as hell in general use and can be overclocked when you know how using the very bizarrely layout within the BIOS.

Both boards have their good and bad points really, but if its for general overall use with "no frills" overclocking then I recommend the Asus over the DFI.

The Abit AN8 "Fatal1ty" is due shortly in the UK and as such this looks quite well, and if its anything as good as the single slot varient then this too would be a good overclocker.

There - just to make your choice harder I throw another 1 into the mix

It's ^Maverick^ here by the way.......(hope i got the right person).

I'm almost finished my new machine and i'm on the all important mobo, as i'll be OC'ing i think the DFI would be best for me. On the other hand, i wont be going OTT with the OC'ing so maybe the Asus is best for me.................There's no way i could wait for the Abit mobo.

The MSI Neo4 is a decent overclocker. Actually, I like all the nForce4 boards for overclocking. They're all pretty good. The DFI is best if you are a serious overclocker but you don't like solder. If you solder then it really makes no difference.

Not a fan of Asus and really cannot stand their BIOSs one itoa! DFI all the way! Specially considering they have a fantastic support forum (dfi-street) with RGone and Angry_Games as mods (they are DFI techies)
