    I've had my primary hard drive for around 5 years now, and its still functioning perfectly (touch wood)

    Seagate all the way with me, I will try out then Wd raptors once ive saved a bit more money.

    Another vote forSamsung....never had a problem with them but had several other manufacturer's drives die on me in the first year

    Samsung, my 2nd choice...

    I had 5 Maxtors (Diamond plus 9)....3 of them f***ed up within 20 months!!! I cant believe this. They are running 24hrs 7days a week...

    The WDs and Samsungs I had had got no problems at all! (the oldest WD I got has been working for 3 years now, still in perfect working order!

    Hope you back up your data. You do understand that all drives fail eventually, right? If you care about your data you'd better have it backed up. You're playing with fire if you don't.

    Maxtor's are the only drives I can say that actually suck. While I have had a few of them that lasted 2 or more years I've had many that did not. Also, I've never had one go 3 years without problems.
