Doo Doo Doo Da Da DA...
Seagate all the way with me, I will try out then Wd raptors once ive saved a bit more money.
They say Seagates are quieter than Samsungs but i run both on silent external enclosures and while i never hear the samsung i do frequently hear the seagate.Originally Posted by iranu
I don't really care about speed since they are storage drives but on the noise side of things i'm not sure why seagates are rated quieter.
Another vote forSamsung....never had a problem with them but had several other manufacturer's drives die on me in the first year
Wd!
Samsung, my 2nd choice...
I had 5 Maxtors (Diamond plus 9)....3 of them f***ed up within 20 months!!! I cant believe this. They are running 24hrs 7days a week...
The WDs and Samsungs I had had got no problems at all! (the oldest WD I got has been working for 3 years now, still in perfect working order!
Hope you back up your data. You do understand that all drives fail eventually, right? If you care about your data you'd better have it backed up. You're playing with fire if you don't.Originally Posted by Gipo

Maxtor's are the only drives I can say that actually suck. While I have had a few of them that lasted 2 or more years I've had many that did not. Also, I've never had one go 3 years without problems.
