Is it possible to get a USB or PCMCIA TV-output device?

So that one could watch video files on their laptop through a competent TV?

as nice as the laptop is, i hate watching tv shows etc on anything but a TV, just doesnt feel right.

It would also save a LOT of hassle converting to DVD or buying a DivX DVD player etc

I can't say I've heard of anything that can output a video signal to tv from usb/pcmcia. No s-video output or similar on the laptop then?

Nope, only VGA out , its an ultraportable so limited on connections.

I can't be the only one to have thought of this, such a simple idea, especiallyin this day and age where there are tons of videos on the web.

Just need a simple "Laptop -> Device -> TV" setup

Apparently can be bought at a big, popular high street stroe for £40 but i didnt quite understand the hint as to which store it was.

Its Maplins. I have used one of those and it sucked big time, I took it back and brought a card in the end.

We used to have things like this (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...sPageName=WDVW) at school and they had a great picture

Oh, what's bad about it? Can you give more detail? I won't need to watch DVD or anything, literally just 640x480 max episodes and other downloads, maximum would be normal TV quality.

That ebay auction has some pretty terrible engrish, i'll look around on ebay again but i think i'd prefer a bigger-name company product.

I had rolling screens, lines across the screen, bad image quality and bad colour reproduction. Useless imho
