    DVD Writer..

Im in the final stages of compiling a spec for a friend, and he has now decided he wants a dual-layer burner, but also one that has support for DVD-RAM because something in his home theatre setup uses them too

Having never dabbled in dual-layers, or DVD-Rams, I need some on advice on which to get him?

The only one I have seen so far is the LG GSA-416.

    Many thanks

    Tobeman

P.S. It also needs to be black

It'll have to be an LG if he wants DVD-Ram, basically. I think the 4163 is their latest model.

I assumed that was the case. It looks to be a good value drive anyway.

The LG GSA-4163B is the successor to the GSA-4120B - a little faster on DVD writing. I have both in my system and both support DVD-RAM. If you do pick up a GSA-4120B then you may want to update the firmware on it (A115 is the latest - Google for sources of the firmware). I think that firmware A103 is the latest on the GSA-4163B.

    Not in stock though.

Edit: I think Scan's delivery might be a couple of quid dearer too.
