Memory help
Hi! my first post so go easy on me
Just ordered a Asus A8N SLI deluxe and going to purchase new ram for the board am I best with 2 x 512MB or 4 X 256MB?
I still have the rest of the kit to sort out for it but I'm ordering stuff as fund allow at the moment.
Thanks in advance.

definately better with 2*512 mate, to leave a little room to upgrade. they do plenty of sticks that size with nice low latencys, crucial, corsair, mushkin, patriot, ocz, take your pick.

Defintely 2 x 512MB. Allows you to add more RAM later without getting rid of what you have and also allows you to run the 2 sticks in dual channel mode for better performance, something you won't be able to do with 4 sticks.

4 x 256 will be faster but less stable overclocking and no upgradability. Or so i hear anyways. I think it is only faster though if the sticks are one sided. Again im not too sure with it so don't quote me ;)

4 x 256 will NOT be faster. Running 2 sticks is always better on an A64. Also, you should never try to run 4 double-sided sticks on an A64.

Good choice in mobo's M0c :) again, definately pick the 2x512, and as for manufacturer the only thing I can suggest is check out the asus forums (if they are still around) to see if they have any issues with specific brands of memory, but as far as I know, you'll be fine.

Cheers for the advice guys.
Nox I'm upgrading from a Asus A7N8X deluxe and I had some serious issues with this and memory when I built it 18 months ago.
I had been looking at Crucial for ease and they are doing a cracking deal on the matched pairs of Ballistix 256MB so it had crossed my mind load the board up that way my other option was some Corsair (TWINX1024-3200C2PT).
Any more thoughts!
